The Rush 2011 review, Brands Hatch 25/6th June

Start Ramps Graham Driver

Very few British Slalom Skaters can resist the draw of Brands Hatch. Since the seventies, the Kent Motor Racing Circuit has been the spiritual home of British Slalom Competition. Having played host to Martin Sweeney’s Guinness Book of Records 100 Cone Challenge, the Grand Prix Section at Hawthorn Hill has to be on every skater’s checklist for racing.

Price does it again in Wisconsin!

Congratulations to Paul Price once again for a string of Podiums at the Wisconsin Wiggle War, another sterling performance from the UK’s top Pro rider.
Just a shame he won’t be around for The Rush 2011 at Brands Hatch this weekend.

The Hog Hill Open Season Slalom and Freeride marked the start of this years UK’s Slalom Racing Season and once again saw the UKSSA working alongside Alex Ireton

of London Longboards/Newtons Shred to share both the venue and the running of the event. Hog Hill Open Season

What’s Hog Hill Open Season?!:

After the success of last year’s Hog Hill Outlaw Championships it was pretty clear that we had to put on another event. This year we’ve moved it forward into June for a better chance of warmer weather.

The random racing format for the DH race will make a return this year, with downtime on the hills filled up with copious amounts of freeriding!

The cones too will be out in full force, with both Dual Slalom and Giant Slalom format races to be held on the multi-faceted venue.

After last year’s epic season it’s all systems go for coneheads in 2011!

5th Amsterdam Slalom Series – Dutch Slalom Championships, 6th-8th May 2011

The Winners Podium (minus Rob Gerlings)

This years Dutch Slalom Championships was the 5th race in the Amsterdam Slalom Series and was again held at Sportpark Sloten, a 20 minute tram ride from Amsterdam centre. Unlike previous years the British Team was very small this year – just me! It was my first solo trip to a European race but with me being half Dutch it felt like “home from home”!
